Revelstoke Elopement - Tara & Curtis Glacier National Park Wedding Portraits

Katee Pederson

Tara and Curtis came to me with one request, to go hiking for their wedding photos. There was a slight catch though - Tara would be 8 months pregnant. Because of this, we decided not to rush things, and split the wedding ceremony and the hike up into two days.

On their wedding day, we hit up all the best spots around Revelstoke. Tara and Curtis (and their two dogs!) got ready at Glacier House Resort with their closest friends and family. Next, they met at Moses Falls for a first look. We spent some time taking photos here as well before moving to the ceremony location at Waterworld climbing area. This was the perfect forest location surrounded by towering mountains and loved ones to witness their marriage. After picking a few wildflowers to complete their centrepieces, the group made their way to The Mac at Revelstoke Mountain Resort for an intimate dinner reception and celebration.

The fun didn’t stop there, as Tara and Curtis along with Tara’s longtime friend joined me early the next morning for a hike in Glacier National Park. We decided on the Great Glacier Trail, as it was more moderate than some of the other options, with breathtaking views along the way. Tara, an experienced trail runner, had no problem at all hiking at this stage in her pregnancy. She’d kept running consistently over the past 8 months and blew me away as she happily kept a steady pace.

At the end of the trail the newlyweds got changed into their wedding attire for a stunning portrait session. Throughout the morning I could feel a storm brewing, but crossed my fingers that it might miss us. As we were finishing up portraits though, I could see it heading our way and we knew to get a move on back to the vehicles. We didn’t make it far down the trail before the rain came full force, drenching us all. Tara and Curtis were still dressed up as we were hoping to take photos at a few more spots along the trail. Instead we captured some moments in the rain before taking cover under a tree for them to change back into their hiking clothes.

I loved my time with Tara and Curtis and am grateful for their adventurous spirits. They really made the most of their mid-week wedding and I look forward to more elopements like theirs in years to come.
